Professional training for appropriately qualified practitioners

Applications are invited from appropriately qualified health and mental-health practitioners whose professional background and scope of practice provide an appropriate foundation for the clinical use of hypnosis.

Hypnosis is an additional clinical skill. Completion of the course does not extend a participant’s underlying professional scope of practice.

  • AHPRA-registered health practitioners
  • Eligible social workers who are members of the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW)
  • Eligible counsellors who are members of an appropriate recognised professional body
  • Other appropriately qualified practitioners considered by the ASH WA Standards Committee
  • International applicants, subject to appropriate professional qualifications and the requirements applying in their own jurisdiction

Selection of participants

The course is designed as an interactive professional learning community. In considering applications, the Standards Committee may take into account:

  • Professional qualifications and current practice
  • Reasons for wanting to undertake the training
  • How the applicant expects to use the training professionally
  • Relevant experience and perspective
  • What the applicant believes they can contribute to the learning of the group
  • Readiness to participate actively in experiential and skills-based training

There is no requirement to fill a predetermined number of places. Applications will close once a suitable group has been formed.
